2020 Caltech Winter Special Training

Date: January 17 - January 19, 2020 (Friday evening through Sunday)

Registration/Check-in: 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Friday January 17 at Braun Gym, Caltech. Be on time! Late arrivals are not admitted to Special Training.

Location: Check-in: Braun Gymnasium, Caltech, 1200 E. California Blvd, Pasadena, CA. Practice: Polytechnic School Gymnasium, 1030 E. California Blvd, Pasadena, CA. (Please do not go to the Polytechnic School Gymnasium before checking in/registering!)

Driving Directons to Gyms: Refer to this map . From the intersection of Wilson and California, go south on Wilson about half a block. Braun Gym (check-in) is on your left (East side of Wilson). For the Polytechnic Gym (where practices are held) go further south about another quarter block. The gym will be on your right. The Polytechnic Gym is located just north of the intersection of Wilson Ave and Cornell Road.

Registration: $175 fee covers the cost of facilities and a place to sleep on the gym floor, but does not include meals. Make checks payable to "Shotokan Karate of America". SKA membership dues MUST be current. Print the registration form online from https://ska.org/news/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/2019-04-14-ST-Application.pdf on the SKA web site. The registration form and check should be mailed to the following address with postmark no later than January 10, 2020.

Normal Registration Fee: $175.
Late Registration Fee: $225.
Cancellation Fee: $25, no exceptions.

Schedule: First practice: 7:30 PM on Friday. Last practice: We expect to finish by 5:00 PM on Sunday.

Parking: Free parking is allowed in all UNNAMED parking spots in the Caltech underground parking structure from Friday 4:30 PM onwards (over the weekend).

Guidelines: Lodging and food is the responsibility of the participant. Sleeping overnight on the gym floor is encouraged. Drink lots of fluids - it is very important to remain hydrated! Bring sleeping bag, drinks, food, etc. Here is a recommended list of items to bring.
